What is the Best Time to Visit Mines View Park in Baguio City?

Mines View Park is one of the most overrated places to visit in the City of Baguio. When you hear the place Baguio City, there are a couple of tourist spots that immediately comes to your mind:

  • Burnham Park;
  • Mines View Park;
  • Botanical Garden; and
  • Wright Park; among others.

Since Baguio City is so small that when tourists visit, all the streets are clogged. It is like fitting a 1.5 liter of water in a 500 ml container.

During peak season, the roads going to these tourist spots are filled with cars with plate numbers coming from all provinces around the Philippines (Name it!) and sometimes they are not even moving. It is as if the roads are large parking areas. Maybe the tourists have the same mindsets? They all go in the same direction.

More often than not, if you will be visiting Mines View Park during the daytime, you will be wasting bulk of your vacation time in traffic which you can use in other less stressful activities in the city. Aside from that, you will also be stressed with your parking area since all of the cars during the day go to the same area. And lastly, you will just be inserting yourself in a very small crowded area.

Going to Mines View Park? Why don’t you visit it at around 4:30 am and witness the sun rise?

If you do that, just imagine the experience you will have that the other tourists missed:

  1. You will not be caught in traffic. The road going to the park is wide open. Including the parking area.
  2. You will not be squeezing yourself to pass through a large number of crowds visiting the park.
  3. You will save a chunk of your vacation time.
  4. You will feel the cold pine breeze of Baguio City which is basically the reason why you visited the City. You can have a cup of coffee from a nearby store while waiting.
  5. You will be able to witness how to sun pierce through the morning mists over the mountains.

  2. OMG! this look amazing! although 4.30 would be too early for me! but If you get this view at 4.30 then it is worth getting up and experience the best! Thanks for sharing! Cheers!

    1. Yes it is very early sophie.. πŸ™‚ But you can still give it a try. πŸ™‚

  3. Wow, this is truly a great tips for those who haven’t been to Mines view Park and still planning to visit Baguio. Yes, you’re just so right, during my last visit in Baguio, I suffered a heavy traffic as I approached to some of the tourist spot like this one, and I didn’t know that early morning of visiting here could be really awesome. I actually plan to go back and this time, I’ll make sure I’ll visit early in the morning to witness the stunning sunrise. Thank you so much for sharing!

  4. I have visited the Park numerous times (as it is very near our house! hahaha!) I have also experienced shooting the sunrise there last December 31, 2015! The view is promising! What disappoints me, though, is the view of the mountains being slowly destroyed by mining. You can even see bald/eroded portions of the mountains from afar. I hope the tourism sector would do something about this!

    1. Exactly chiki.. That’s the sad part. Including the park itself. Madaming garbage huhuhuhu

  5. Wow! 4:30 seems like a tough get up time for me. But I agree you can avoid the traffic and enjoy those mesmerizing views with the awesome breeze. I think it is worth trying for that colorful sunrise.

  6. I don’t mind going at 4:30am for the sunrise. I am a fun of sunrise and sunsets. And yes, I hate the traffic in Baguio.

  7. Good suggestion! Mines View Park is so crowded that it’s hard to enjoy the place with all the people around. And it looks like a beautiful place to see the sunrise

  8. Visiting the Mines view park in the early morning must be the best option. A stunning sunrise is on the cards, we would love it. Always believe in catching a sunrise by getting up early, the world seems so serene and beautiful before the everyone wakes up.

  9. If only a quarter of us traveling down to Mines View Park could get a hold of this post the road would be less congested at daytime otherwise around 4:30 am is best for me to catch the beautiful Sunrise!

    1. Yes you are right! πŸ™‚ and it would be both beneficial to the tourists and to the people living in Baguio.

  10. Sunrise is a lovely thing to watch anywhere actually, but this one is so much fun. I lived in Baguio city but haven’t tried this! Missing this place! Xx

    1. Are you really from Baguio? Or did you work or study here? πŸ™‚ You should go back and try this. πŸ™‚

  11. I remember I went there at around 10 am and it was jam packed! You can’t even take a nice photo. Haha! I really feel like going back to Baguio.

    1. You can just come back anytime.. Baguio is just waiting for you..

  12. This is beautiful! I love an early morning hike myself!

    1. Thank you Maegan.. πŸ™‚

  13. Wow, I never really thought of going there so very early in the morning, but you do have a point. Why do we go to places in the time of day where we are sure to deal with other tourists. Would love to go back there and go there in an hour suggested.

  14. Game ako jan sa 4:30 ng umaga! Thanks for the tips. My gf and I would like to go there soon!

  15. What a beautiful park, and great point. It’s always better to visit a busy attraction in the early morning, even before the early bird rises. I always try to do the same.

  16. This park seems spectacular! Awesome post and useful tips!

  17. Nasa Baguio ako every year. Pero never ko pa naabutan ang sunrise. Haha. Masyadong clingy ang bed dun eh. Sarap matulog.

  18. I haven’t been to Baguio for over 10 years already I think! Should I be, I will definitely do the 4:30am sunrise watching!
